Why Frozen Fruit and Vegetables can be Better than the Fresh Variety

Many people believe that fresh fruit and vegetables are much more nutrient rich than frozen fruit and vegetables. The problem is when fresh food and vegetables are available in the supermarket we never really know how fresh it is, so in actual fact you are better buying frozen fruit and vegetables. The added bonus to this is that it is cheaper! Therefore you don't have to 'break the bank' to eat healthy!
Fresh fruit especially is very expensive in comparison and is losing nutrients as it sits in your fruit bowl and will go off quickly, so i would only buy fresh fruit if you're eating the same day but be aware that you're paying a lot more. Fresh vegetables are the same and when bought and left to sit will start to 'go off'. Another point to consider is how long the fruit and veg has been on the shelf in the supermarket already adding to the degradation process, before it even sits in your fruit bowl or kitchen. How often have you seen the broccoli in your local supermarket looking rather yellow?!
People have a stigma about frozen food because it's not "fresh" but if it's frozen you hit pause on the degradation and nutrient loss of the product. Sat in the house for a few days bought fresh it's losing nutrients and going off, however in your freezer this doesn't happen.
Buying frozen fruit and vegetables is both cheaper and also you will have more nutrient rich food, therfore fresh is certainly not necessarily best!
